Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 28, 2026

Your privacy matters deeply to us. This policy explains what data we collect (very little) and how we handle it.

The short version

Speech Recognition

ReciteWell uses on-device speech recognition powered by Whisper to grade your recitations. All audio processing happens locally on your iPhone. No audio data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party. Your spoken words stay on your device.

Analytics

We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics. This helps us understand which features are used and improve the app. We collect:

We do not collect: names, email addresses, IP addresses, location data, or any information that identifies you personally.

iCloud Sync

If you use iCloud, your memorization progress is stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This data syncs between your devices through Apple's infrastructure. We do not have access to your iCloud data — Apple manages it entirely.

In-App Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card numbers, or Apple ID.

Third-Party Services

We do not use any advertising services or data brokers.

Data Retention

Your verse progress is stored locally on your device and optionally in your iCloud account. Anonymous analytics data is retained for 12 months. We do not maintain any database of user information.

Children's Privacy

ReciteWell does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains only Bible verses (KJV and WEB translations) and is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the changes here with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
